What to Do First
For a cracked tooth, rinse gently with warm water and use a cold compress on the outside of the face if swelling is present.
- Call the dental office as soon as possible and provide details.
- For a knocked out permanent tooth, avoid touching the root. Keep the tooth moist and seek immediate dental care.
For life threatening symptoms, uncontrolled bleeding, severe facial trauma, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or a suspected broken jaw, call 911 or seek emergency medical care.
